Barack Obama’s PR Campaign

Sen. Barack Obama has launched one of the largest public relations campaigns ever with his presidential campaign. His campaign covers all aspects of media possible-internet, news coverage, advertising, radio, television, events and press releases. From coining the phrases “change,” “hope” and “yes we can,” Obama has inspired the most young people ever to vote in all of America’s history.

His website fuels the campaign. It links to his blog and social networks, such as, facebook, myspace, youtube, digg and twitter, an entire archive of videos containing speeches by Obama, Biden and supporters and there are “people” and “state” pages clearing dividing his audiences, by race, gender and demographic, in order to reach everyone. People can even sign up on the website to receive text messages about campaign updates.

Obama PR to National News

Obama has spent the most ever on advertising than any other running president in history because of his generous supporters. His ads are run on the radio and television. He even purchased a 30-minute primetime block on CBS and NBC and plans to air show on October 29.

A big part of the public relations aspect is his endorsements, where he gets free press that include important people. Just this weekend he got Republican Colin Powell’s endorsement. Others that endorse him are Hilary and BIll Clinton and Oprah Winfrey

Here is a link to his statement about Sen. Clinton’s endorsement and the video of Sen. Clinton officially endorsing him for president. In his press release about Clinton’s endorsement, Sen. Obama stressed the image of a united Democratic party and he is trying to address the audience of Hillary supporters in order to get there vote.
